别把A Level成绩太当会事，A Level这种类型的考试是reward hard work，不是reward talent，一个middle ability的孩子如果hard working，考A*完全没有压力。 
如果你看看Oxford很多专业的入学A Level成绩要求，你会发现很多专业的要求比帝国理工，华威，曼彻斯特等等大学的要求低，但这不能说明Oxford的学生水平就差吧。 
也就是说GCSE要淘汰40个人，不知道是从原来的180人里面淘汰，
还是会淘汰更多的人，如60人，再从外校招20人呢？
如果QE boys里面2/3阿差，我也宁愿去别的地方

不从外面招，当然有个别情况。
混校或者分校问题，一般认为
小学：女孩混校，男孩分校，因为小学阶段女孩比较成熟，男孩如果在混校那会被女生dominate，女孩在混校容易发展leadership skills。
中学：男孩混校，女孩分校。男孩正是性成熟阶段，在混校里会自然的发展男人的社会角色，成熟快学习有动力，Westminster，KCS等等这些传统男校A Level现在已经招女生了，目的很明确。女孩在混校里面会自然的进入女性的社会角色这样选择数学和science的人少职业取向也会向传统女性职业发展。
英国小学阶段基本没有什么考试，每年有老师的assessment有school report，但公校school report只说好话很少说坏话，如果用school report来判断孩子那很多都是盲目自信，到Year 5考11+的时候很多父母并不知道孩子程度如何。经常会碰到父母说我家孩子特别聪明就是不用功也没有请到好tutor，听了只能呵呵。

St Paul男校说他们不追求exam results，拒绝参加任何排名榜，所以说它“闷头发大财”。和它一样观点的私校不少，比如Winchester。
额 我们相反
今年刚开学staff meeting的时候 head mistress说我们的A level成绩太差了
她委婉的表达了自己的意见 说the girls did their best, but I feel they can achieve more with our help
然后还说Year 12尽管很多是自己学校申上来的
希望我们从一开始就对她们加压 让她们适应 “高强度”的学习
我们head of department说 尽管我们数学这边成绩是全校最好的 但head mistress这番措辞是以前从来没有过的。。。别的科目都考得相当不好
哎 NQT压力巨大。。。
大部分印度孩子都很好的，况且这些学校大部分家庭都是middle class家庭，华人的人口少在grammar里的孩子也少，所以大部分在grammar的华人孩子（特别是男孩）在学校的朋友都是印度人。
其实印度人更团结，更报团的。这点华人要向印度人学习啊。
是的，我也觉得印度人普遍素质高些，有的都是在这边三代了，认识一个家庭全都是医生律师飞行员牙医啥的。
周六去了NLCS,学校是真心好，学生也自信，但是学费是真心贵
学费之外还有好多呢
NLCS的mission statement说to provide an ambitious academic education and to enable each girl to make the most of her gifts，这意思就是说女学霸你就来吧。
看了一下还有午餐，以及额外的音乐课，没有别的了。
看了龙哥的留言，我眼里浮现一个画面，我女儿带着比瓶底还厚的眼镜，包着一个大书和我说，妈妈，我不想陪你去逛街了，我还要研究一个新课题，说完，右手推推眼镜，转身关上了房门。
