But Apple also reduced the Mac Pro’s size with some clever engineering. Traditionally, each heat-producing component in a desktop computer–CPU(s), graphics chips, memory, and so on–has had its own heat sink, and sometimes even its own fan. Fitting all these components into a case, and creating good airflows to make sure each can adequately cool, requires a relatively large enclosure. It’s also an inefficient use of materials, because each heat sink is only cooling its respective component(s) part of the time.
Of course, not having traditional hard drives, PCI expansion cards, honkin’-big PCI-card GPUs (graphics processing units–a.k.a., “video cards”), and the like inside does wonders for internal temperatures. But the new Mac Pro also incorporates what Apple calls a unified thermal core. This is essentially a large, triangular, extruded-aluminum frame in the middle of the new Mac Pro that acts as both the structure for the computer and a central heat sink. The inside of the triangle looks like a traditional heat sink, with thin slats to increase surface area. Coupled directly to each of the three sides of the triangle are, respectively, the Mac Pro’s CPU and each of its two GPUs. The result is a single heat sink that services the entire computer. Apple says the design allows the components to share the core’s thermal efficiency, as it pulls heat away from each of those components and distributes it evenly across the core. Even when working hard, the outside of the Mac Pro’s aluminum case feels only warm, not hot–it won’t heat your office like older models.

难怪。。。结果有人要说新款设计多么小巧，风道多么巧妙，好像从来没人想过一样。。。原来最关键的核心技术就是把硬件换掉。
“失望的结果，苹果Mac Pro跑分曝光”
“苹果在WWDC 2013上推出了新款的Mac Pro，从发布至今，大家广泛讨论的是这款设备小巧独特的外观，那么这款设备的性能怎么样呢？近日，Primate Lab的John Poole曝光了这款设备的benchmark跑分情况。
很多人预测，Mac Pro的性能相比上一代会有显著提升，达到30,000以上，不过从曝光的截图来看，他的跑分只有23,901，这样的确实让人有点小失望了。从跑分上来看，性能并没有得到明显的提升。
从图片上可以看到，新Mac Pro搭载主频2.7GHZ的12核心Intel Xeon E5-2697处理器。”
我可以想象到，这贴回复之后，马上又会有人跳出来说跑分不代表性能。这我承认。那么游戏呢？把传统的显卡换掉，却要达到与原来的显卡一样的性能，还要发热不大，明显是不可能完成的任务。苹果偷换硬件的同时也在偷换概念。我承认这个设计很独特，但是要靠这样的设计来解决传统PC发热过大的问题根本不可能，只有换成功率低的显卡才有可能实现。
如果这样，我相信这也不是什么超牛逼的机器，最多只是算中等配置。自己配一套双至强CPU搭顶级交火显卡，图形渲染能力肯定能秒掉他。
这个机器不是用来玩游戏的啦… 虽然跑分的提升的确有些不给力。
按照verge的说法这个机器几乎是专门给影视编辑类专业用的，用苹果自家的软件靠优化能同时流畅回放4个4k视频，虽然更多人用的Adobe家的软件还没有跟进。
像verge那个评测里说的这个机器因为软件优化暂时还没牛到秒杀旧Mac Pro或者高配iMac的地步，但体积对一些经常要到处跑的studio还是很重要的。
另外自己配机器的问题，像macrumours上评论说的 “we buy workstations, we use them for a number of years, and then we retire them. we are not sitting here dorking around w/ DIY CPU upgrades…thats an activity for enthusiasts.”
需要批量用到Mac Pro这个等级配置的地方会更加愿意花钱去买已经组装好的机器
这个机器最牛逼的设计就是散热.
整体只有一个风扇, 中间是空的, 像个涡轮发动机一样的结构, 风从下面吸入, 流过机身, 从顶上吹出. 极其安静高效.
没有人说这是一台性能非常牛逼的电脑，但这是目前最快的Mac。
Mac Pro的用户关心的是 Final Cut Pro等软件可不可以完美体验，机子可以用多久而不需要任何的超频，换件。
不是很多人会用一台顶配10000美元的机子当游戏机。
Mac 和 PC 是两个不同的世界。你喜欢PC, 喜欢玩DIY, 喜欢微软，就留在PC的世界里。
这里楼主只是在讲苹果如何在传统座机的设计领域进行创新，而这个创新很明显是非常优秀而又独一无二的。
哥们，还是那句话，请了解苹果，再来黑苹果。
世界上也不是只有mac上的final cut才能编辑专业电影的。所谓的稳定也只是可笑罢了。如果给你一台PC，只装那么几个软件，想不稳定都不行。
如果只是关心软件运行得顺不顺，那什么都不用升级最顺。结果花了比别人更多的钱，配的却是不如人家的硬件。
至于设计是不是优秀，要看同样的硬件条件下能不能达到相同的温度和性能。结果水果为了降低散热追求小型化，把硬件先阉割了，性能直接就输给人家一大截，这样也叫优秀的话，客厅里的HTPC最优秀。Rasperry Pi那么小的一个体积集成了电脑的全部基本功能，是不是更优秀？

什麼跑分都是神馬，professional never look solely on those number, cuz those number can’t tell many thing

如果要閹割性能
為甚麼還要拿最快的chip？
你的logic在哪裏？
其實你們pc users太在意benchmark score了,很多時候這些test是怎麼test，你們也不懂
apple也可以學samsung，當要做benchmarking時，超頻它
沒有這種必要。apple連最不好說的battery life也成為可信任的數字，沒必要大吹這個數目
r&d要是沒辦法解決這種問題，他們大可以不出新設計，繼續舊的
反正這樣肯定賺錢

想不到很多人會拿DIY和mac pro比？
ram和processor都不是一個級別
